Depending on the application, the silicon (0.5 to 4.5%) and aluminum (0.2 to 0.5%) content is changed during smelting to meet different magnetic requirements. The amount of silicon and aluminum in higher grades of silicon steel sheets is increased accordingly. Carbon, sulfur and inclusions are minimized.
