DESCRIPTION
Silicon steel is smelted mainly by oxygen converter (or electric arc furnace), combined with vacuum treatment of molten steel and AOD technology (see off-furnace refining, using die casting or continuous casting method. According to different uses, the contents of silicon (0.5 ~ 4.5%) and aluminum (0.2 ~ 0.5%) are changed during smelting to meet different magnetic requirements. The amount of silicon and aluminum of high grade silicon steel sheet is increased correspondingly. Carbon, sulfur and inclusions are minimized.
